About Morse code

What is Morse code?

Morse code is a communication system that represents letters and numbers using combinations of ".(Dots)" and "-(Dashes)".

This communication system was invented by Samuel Morse in the 1830s in the United States. With the development of telegraph technology, it spread throughout the world and became the standard method of wireless communication in the 20th century.

The mechanism of Morse code

Morse code is composed of the following basic units:

  • Dots(.) … Short signal(Dots)
  • Dashes(-) … Long signal(Dashes)
  • Character spacing … Spacing between individual characters
  • Word spacing … Longer spacing to separate words

By combining these elements, we can convey letters and numbers.

For example, the letter S in Morse code is represented as "・・・", and O is represented as "---", so SOS would be "・・・---・・・".
